Date: July 23, 2025
Category: General
IBSA is proud to announce the first-ever “New Vision for Africa” conference, set to take place on 6–7 September 2025 in Casablanca, Morocco. This groundbreaking event is the first IBSA initiative fully dedicated to the development of blind and partially sighted sports across the African continent.
Organized with the support of the Government of Morocco and the Royal Moroccan Federation of the Blind and Visually Impaired, the conference reflects IBSA’s ongoing commitment to global inclusion, growth, and the empowerment of athletes with visual impairments worldwide.
One of the major milestones expected from this event is the launch of IBSA’s regional office in Africa—a crucial step toward strengthening the organization’s presence on the continent. Plans are also underway to establish additional regional offices in other parts of the world in the near future.
The conference will bring together more than 20 countries and a distinguished group of international leaders, including:
- Andrew Parsons, President of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC)
- Samson Deen, President of the African Paralympic Committee
- Ilgar Rahimov, President of IBSA
Also expected are representatives of national governments, regional and international sports federations, development agencies, and sponsors.
The “New Vision for Africa” conference will focus on strengthening multisector partnerships, identifying key challenges and opportunities in the region, and creating actionable strategies to support blind sports in Africa. It also marks a pivotal moment in IBSA’s long-term strategy to expand its global reach and increase meaningful participation across all regions.
Further updates, including the detailed programme and outcomes of the conference, will be shared soon.
